The Workshop
I wanted to make a frank & striking set of pictures, of people that have a trade, but work in tough gritty surroundings. Not many younger people seem to be coming into these trades, so our workforce is ageing. I hope I have given a glimpse into their character at the same time. Something that tries to get to the root of fleshy, imperfect humanity. Can we glimpse the hopes, fears and acceptance, that each of us encounter in our lives, through their faces? Do we only work to pay the bills and support our sense of identity? A personal project by a photographer working in Birmingham, London and throughout the UK..
